Audition Instructions
Auditions will be conducted in different sessions. One session for singing and monologue work, and another session for dance.
What to Prepare:
Come prepared to sing, dance, and work a monologue, so dress comfortably. You will be given a 10-minute time slot to sing and work on your monologue. You will be working on dance movement in very small groups in the Edisto Room, with Laurie and Deb, between 3 and 5. You will need to sign up for the dance time at your reading/singing audition.
Bring jazz shoes (if you have them) or leather soled shoes since the room is carpeted.
Below is a character breakdown of the 6 principal roles, along with very short monologues. Memorization is not required, but please spend some time familiarizing yourself with the material and, of course, the show.
Musical requirements are also found in this notice. Please familiarize yourself with “Blue Skies,” and if there is an individual song for your character, please prepare to sing this in sections that are delineated.
Betty and Judy: Please look at “Sisters.” There is harmony and melody. You may sing the melody like a solo, but in the callbacks, we will ask you to sing the harmony, so you should look at both and prepare accordingly. Betty is the lower harmony and Judy the higher harmony.
Bob, Phil, and Martha: There is solo music for you. Please familiarize yourself with your solo pieces as well as “Blue Skies.”
General Waverly: Sing “Blue Skies”
** Bob and Phil- you may be asked to sing “Sisters” in the callbacks, with the harmony. It would not hurt to listen to these characters singing this number from the show or the movie.
Callbacks on June 17th:
Held in Mag Hall for singing/acting and dance callbacks will be in the Green Room.
If you tap, please bring your tap shoes and appropriate dance footwear to the callback.
